Gene Clark celebration tonight at The 12 Bar Club

A CELEBRATION OF GENE CLARK AND BOB DYLAN

Today Tuesday May 24th marks both the 20th anniversary of the passing of the Byrd who couldn't fly - GENE CLARK - and the 70th birthday of Uncle Bobby - BOB DYLAN. To celebrate the music of these two American originals a host of musicians are gathering to perform their songs and generally have a good time.

Mr SID GRIFFIN, who knew and played with Gene Clark in LA in the 80s and has written two books on Bob Dylan, will be our master of ceremonies and raconteur-in-chief, and so far confirmed as participating are:

JASON MCNIFF, SIMON MOOR & JOHN O'SULLIVAN (SNAKES),
SIMON ONIONS, TOMMY HINKLEY, KATHLEEN HASKARD,
JAMES WALBOURNE, DARRELL BATH, QUIET LONER,
BEN FOLKE THOMAS, SIMON J ALPIN,
HARRISBURG, AND TRENT MILLER.

Please join us on this unique evening at the 12 Bar Club.

Danny & The Champs - London show - Wed 8th June

In the run-up to the July release of their stunning Hearts & Arrows album Danny & The Champs play the Borderline. After their amazing debut at Winterlude back in February they've been intensely rehearsing and the fruits of that were shown in the cracking set they played at Record Store Day in Cheltenham last month. This is going to be a good one.

And I should mention that I'm the DJ for the night.

Tommy Hinkley plays for Bucketfull at The Bull & Gate this Sunday

BUCKETFULL OF BRAINS PRESENTS...TOMMY HINKLEY
15 May · 17:00 - 20:00

A Bucketfull Of Brains presentation in the front room at The Bull & Gate in conjunction with Stuntfox.

TOMMY HINKLEY plays guitar in the Moon Music Orchestra, has his own band TOMMY HINKLEY & THE WANDERING HORSE, but has recently released a stunning solo album RAYS OF PALE LIGHT which has drawn comparison with 70s JIM WEBB and JOHNNY RIVERS.

A review in a recent Bucketfull called it "a music luxuriating in the strength of strings, plaintive piano, emotive singing".

A rare North London appearance from Tommy.

As is customary BENJAMIN FOLKE THOMAS will play a few songs to open the proceedings.

All kicking off around 5.00

Despite his broken ankle Nick from BoB will be playing a few tunes between the acts.

BoB faves The See See play Clerkenwell on Sunday afternoon

The See See are playing at Come Down & Meet The Folks this Sunday 8th May.

They'll no doubt be playing tunes from their super Late Morning Light album. BoB#77 said they "have catholic tastes and influences, and while Gene Clark and The Searchers are plainly in the mix, it would be quite wrong to write them off as retro-merchants. They bring a sense of excitement and drive, allied with moments of gentle chilling".

At The Apple Tree, Clerkenwell, on at 6.30ish.
